Natural gas reserves

Finland has no own gas reserves of its own, but it is situated between enormous gas occurrences. Proven gas reserves in Russia total around 48,000 billion cubic metres and in Norway 3,000 billion cubic metres The European Union’s share of world gas reserves is 2.2 per cent. Natural gas is imported into Europe not only from Russia, but also from Algeria and Turkey. In the UK, extensive natural gas fields are being exploited in the North Sea. For now, all the natural gas used in Finland is imported from Russia. The world's proven reserves will be sufficient for hundred years’ consumption.
