Safety
Because it is lightweight, CNG is safe for use in general traffic. Unlike liquefied gas, which is heavier than air, it does not cause an explosion hazard for instance in garage pits.
Factory-made natural gas vehicles and their gas tanks are designed for safety in accidents. The fuel system is secured with abundant safety equipment including relief and stop valves, pipe break valves for filling, thermal fuses etc. Even if the natural gas leaks, it is unlikely to ignite due to the narrow ignition range of methane. In Central Europe, there are no limitations to driving or parking NGVs.
