Skangas is having a natural gas pipeline constructed from the LNG terminal under construction in Tahkoluoto, Pori, Finland, to Kaanaa industrial park. The pipeline construction project begins in early August 2015, and the connection pipeline is due for commissioning in May 2016.
The main gas user in the Kaanaa industrial park is Huntsman Pigments and Additives Oy. Once completed, the pipeline will also provide other industrial customers with access to natural gas.
Made from polyethene (PE), the connection pipeline will be around 12 kilometres long and have an external diameter of 355 mm. The pipeline will cross varied terrain, including under roads and railways, and also be laid on the seabed over a section of approximately 3.2 kilometres at a depth of cover of around 1 metre.
The main contractor selected for the pipeline construction and installation work is Destia Ltd, which will also use the services of local contractors. Gasum is responsible for the design and implementation of the construction project. The average number of personnel working on the project will be 30.
