Restaurant Lämpö switched its cookers to Gasum biogas in April 2015. Lämpö is the first Finnish restaurant changing from natural gas to Finnish biogas. Biogas enables the restaurant to make its cooking even more environmentally friendly.
Gasum now offers biogas to restaurants as well. It injects purified 100% Finnish and environmentally friendly biogas into the gas network from Espoo, Kouvola and Lahti. Biogas can be offered flexibly in accordance with the needs of enterprise and residential customers using natural gas. Biogas is a Finnish biofuel that is always produced from fully renewable raw materials.
Environmental values are important for Restaurant Lämpö. It wants to be a forerunner for change and support the use of Finnish and renewable energy.
– We want to provide our customers with concrete evidence of how important environmental values are for us. Our restaurant is located in an old gas plant, so the switch to biogas was a natural choice for us. We want this tradition to be visible is our operations through new methods, says Lämpö restaurateur Mikko Hänninen.
– Consumer appreciation of products that are local and made in environmentally friendly processes is increasing all the time. We want to provide restaurants with a new way of responding to consumer needs – including with the energy used in cooking, says Customer Group Manager Sari Lilja from Gasum.
Biogas is now also available to Helsinki homes using gas cookers. In the autumn Gasum switched all residential gas cooker customers free of charge to biogas for a month. The campaign was Gasum’s contribution to action to save our planet with cleaner energy. Housing companies can now opt for biogas and also benefit from real-time remote reading free of charge.
