Bunkering new vessel

8 January 2016 Skangas bunkered the M.V. Greenland in Westport Stavanger for the first time. This was done by a truck to ship delivery.

At the quay in Westport Stavanger (Risavika havn) Greenland was bunkered with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Skangas. Bunkering is a daily operation for Skangas, and it is always satisfactory to welcome a new ship into the "LNG-family".

GREEN INITIATIVE
M.V. Greenland is a dedicated cement carrier built in 2015, operated by KGJ Cement (homepage), a large cement carrier owner. The vessel is the first dry cargo vessel ever with an LNG fueled propulsion system, in which a pressurized LNG tank is incorporated inside the hull. It is powered by a Wärtsila dual-fuel machinery.

This vessel is yet another proof of the new environmental friendly vessels coming into operation. When operating on natural gas M.V. Greenland will comply with the most stringent emission criteria and it will meet potential future environmental limitations.

A VARIETY OF SHIP SEGMENTS ON LNG
Skangas notice that the LNG concept is growing into new shipping segments. From the start with LNG for passenger ferries and offshore service vessels in Norway the interest is expanding to a variety of segments, also overseas. Today LNG is used as fuel in coastguard vessels, tankers, catamarans, RoRo's and tugs.

M.V. Greenland will be followed by a sister vessel, also powered by LNG, expected to be delivered during May 2016.

DELIVERING LNG BY TRUCK-TO-SHIP IN THE NORDICS
M.V. Greenland is currently operating in the spot market opening up for a variety of possible bunkering ports. Skangas offers LNG supply in Northern Europe, using truck, bunker vessels and pipe solutions.
