Markus Olsson, M.Sc. (Econ.), was appointed on April 18, 2017 as Managing Director of Gasum AB, a subsidiary of the Finnish energy company Gasum. He is responsible of sales, biogas business and market development in Sweden. Gasum purchased 100% of the shares of the Swedish biogas producer Swedish Biogas International at the end of 2016. The transaction made Gasum the biggest producer of biogas in the Nordic countries. Swedish Biogas International AB was renamed Gasum AB and operates under the Gasum brand in Sweden.
“Gasum’s strategic objective is to actively develop the Nordic gas ecosystem in which biogas plays an important role. Biogas has enormous potential for growth in Sweden in various segments of transport and industry. Markus Olsson is be responsible of sales, biogas business and market development in Sweden, and he will have an important role in developing our Biogas business further,” says Gasum Vice President Jukka Metsälä.
Prior to joining the Gasum Group, Managing Director Markus Olsson worked as Business Director of Lantmännen Agroetanol. Markus was Head of the company's Marketing, Sales and Logistics department.
Gasum is one of the biggest producers of biogas in Sweden, producing an annual total of around 300 gigawatt hours of biogas. Gasum has 12 biogas plants, five of which – Jordberga, Katrineholm, Lidköping, Örebro and Västerås – are located in Sweden. Gasum also has a 50% shareholding in Vadsbo Biogas. Gasum is also Finland’s leading supplier of biogas. Gasum processes waste and produces biogas at its seven biogas plants in Finland.
The Gasum subsidiary Skangas is the leading Nordic expert in liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied biogas (LBG). Skangas has LNG production plants in Norway and Finland and LNG terminals in Norway, Sweden and Finland.
