Gasum to sell a site located in Tolkkinen, Porvoo, Finland

Gasum has been preparing the sale of a property located on the Tolkkinen peninsula in Porvoo, Finland, since spring 2016. Partial removal of forest and preparation for use in accordance with the local master plan had taken place earlier. The site will be sold to the Cities of Helsinki and Porvoo. The transaction is anticipated to be completed in July 2017.

Gasum acquired ownership of the Tolkkinen property in 2010 with a view to constructing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal on the site. As the terminal was not realized in Porvoo, Gasum is giving up the site no longer needed by the company. The site will be sold to the Cities of Helsinki and Porvoo. The new owners will assign a variety of uses for the area.

The forest and recreational areas of the southern section of the Tolkkinen peninsula will be acquired by City of Porvoo, which will maintain their current status designated for recreational and outdoor pursuit use by residents.

The northern section of the area will also be transferred under the ownership of the City of Porvoo, with the rock materials from the site sold by Gasum under a separate agreement to NCC Industry Oy. NCC will apply for the permits required for the removal of rock from the property and will be responsible for communications relating to excavation and operations in the future.

The area located by the Tolkkistentie road will be acquired by the City of Helsinki, which will plan a boat winter storage area on the site.

The seafront area of the northern section will be acquired jointly by the Cities of Porvoo and Helsinki.

A residents’ event will be organized by the parties to the property transaction on a later date.
