Gasum has signed an agreement on the use of biogas with the restaurant of the Helsinki Finnish Club. From now on, food will be prepared in the club restaurant kitchen with 100% Finnish and renewable biogas.
Located in the heart of Helsinki next door to Kamppi Center, the Helsinki Finnish Club has a long history as a traditional Finnish gentlemen's club. Almost ever since the foundation of the Club in 1876, it has been important that good food is served at the Club. A’la Carhu Oy has been responsible for running the Club restaurant since 2009. From now on, food preparation will be more environmentally friendly thanks to the switch to 100% Finnish and renewable biogas. Biogas is delivered for the restaurant by the local gas distribution company Suomen Kaasuenergia Oy.
”Our restaurant serves traditional Finnish food utilizing seasonal produce. At the same time we’re determined to keep up with the times and also offer our customers some of today’s more recent flavors. We regard renewable biogas strongly as a present-day solution and value it as a local energy source,” says Miia Makkonen, restaurater of the Club.
In addition to Club members, the restaurant also gets visitors from many enterprises and organizations from various sectors. The restaurant offers a splendid setting for meetings as well as special events. The staff are always highly professional when looking after customers.
”We talk with our customers instead of just delivering food and drinks to them. We’re also going to tell them about biogas. For example, the fact that their crayfish scraps go to biowaste, which is then used to make biogas for our kitchen cooker.”
”It’s great to welcome a restaurant like this that cherishes Finnish values among our biogas customers. We believe that the customers of the Helsinki Finnish Club restaurant will appreciate food prepared with 100% Finnish and renewable biogas,” says Gasum Sales Manager Max Miilakangas.
Gasum biogas is a Finnish biofuel that is always produced from fully renewable raw materials. Gasum’s Finnish biogas plants are located in Huittinen, Honkajoki, Kuopio, Oulu, Riihimäki, Turku and Vehmaa. Gasum also produces biogas with its partners in Espoo, Kouvola and Lahti. Biogas is a versatile energy source sold to industry, service providers, heat and power production, food preparation at homes and restaurants, and for use as a transport fuel.
