This summer at Gasum, Nea Lennartz has had the opportunity to gain work experience within the field of her studies for the first time. Nea, who studies business at LUT School of Business and Management, started her tasks at the biogas unit’s project team already in May. Prior the summer job at Gasum, Nea has gained experience working as a customer service coordinator and as a salesperson in a clothing store.
“It has been inspiring to get to do work that matches my field of studies at the university. My tasks have been genuinely interesting to me,” says Nea.
Nea's tasks include processing invoices, customs declarations and placing purchase orders. In addition to these, Nea is involved in two big projects. In the procurement project, Nea has been able to develop different procurement processes, which has been particularly inspiring for her.
“The interesting tasks in the job advertisement made me apply for this summer job. It has been a pleasant surprise to find out that the advertisement’s description of the task corresponded to the reality of the job,” says Nea.
Nea has been positively surprised also to notice how much she has been able to collaborate with her Swedish and Norwegian colleagues as well:
“I was surprised to see how international work at Gasum is. On a daily basis, I am in contact with our Norwegian and Swedish colleagues: on work matters and other things as well. Now we’ve been able to have a coffee break together through Teams. Of course, it would be wonderful to be able to see all my co-workers live,” says Nea.
In addition to working on weekdays, Nea has time to pursue and enjoy the Finnish summer:
“I have also had the time to enjoy summery evenings and weekends with friends. As a counterbalance to the relaxing summer lounging, I have also exercised a lot. This summer, I’ve gotten back to my favorite hobby, fitness boxing.”
