Transport cleanly with LNG

Jaa:

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is a clean and price-stable fuel for tractor units used in heavy-duty road transport. Emission targets set by the EU require significant cuts in greenhouse gas emissions, creating the need for enterprises to reduce emissions in their supply chains where a major role is played by transport logistics.

LNG is now for the first time in Finland also available for heavy-duty road tractors with operating ranges of up to 1,000 km. Gasum has opened the first LNG filling stations in Vuosaari, Helsinki, and in Turku, and two new stations will be opened by late 2017. The construction of the filling station network for heavy-duty vehicles has been co-funded by the EU.

Why LNG?

LNG is a clean fuel as it does not contain fine particulate matter that reduces local air quality and its carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions are low. At the same time LNG is an investment in the future. LNG-fueled trucks can also switch to 100% Finnish and fully emission-free biogas without any special investments.

LNG-fueled vehicles for heavy-duty road transport

LNG-fueled tractor units are available in Finland in the Iveco, Volvo and Scania ranges.

”We want to lead the way in the transport sector and introduce new, more environmentally friendly vehicles to our fleet. LNG is a natural step in our efforts to make transport greener. I strongly believe that the number of Speed’s LNG-fueled vehicles will increase in the future.”
