FlixBus chooses Gasum’s biogas for their Stockholm to Oslo route – Renewable biogas allows bus companies to reduce their emissions immediately
Gasum has partnered with FlixBus to supply renewable biogas for its new bus operating between the capitals of Sweden and Norway. The new gas-powered bus supports both FlixBus’ and Sweden’s and Norway’s goals in emission reductions.
Gasum has initiated a partnership with FlixBus on supplying liquefied biogas (LBG) for its new gas-powered bus operating between Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway. The bus is a Scania and it will start operating the route in the beginning of July.
As a 100% renewable fuel, biogas perfectly supports FlixBus’ climate conscious strategy. FlixBus’ owner FlixMobility is known as the leading tech-mobility company and is eager to try new sustainable technology and fuels to lower its climate impact and reduce its carbon footprint. The gas-powered FlixBus will support both Sweden’s and Norway’s emission reduction goals.
“Our vision is to offer sustainable mobility to everybody. Green-tech is at the core of our business and one of our key sustainability drivers. We ensure that the resurgence of travel is sustainable, and biogas is certainly one of the most important technologies to achieve this already today,” says André Schwämmleinn, CEO of FlixMobility.
Biogas is the perfect fuel for climate-friendly busses
Biogas is extremely suitable as a fuel both for long-distance buses and buses used in public transport. As an existing technology, it allows companies to immediately significantly reduce their emissions. It is also well aligned with consumers’ growing interest in low-emission ways to travel.
“The partnership is a result of a great co-operation between Gasum, FlixBus and Scania. Together we are building a cleaner future. We hope that in the near future biogas will become even more common as a fuel for busses as it reduces both carbon dioxide emissions and local emissions, making it a perfect choice to decrease the impact of public transportation to cities’ air quality,” says Mikael Antonsson, Sales Director, Traffic Sweden, Gasum.
Gasum is continuously expanding its Nordic gas filling station network. At the moment, the network already enables the refueling of both heavy-duty vehicles and busses across Sweden, Norway and Finland.
As a completely renewable fuel, biogas is a cost-effective and low-emission alternative for companies to reduce their carbon footprint. It reduces greenhouse gas emissions over the entire lifecycle by up to 90% compared with fossil fuel and reduces local emissions like NOx and particulate emissions.
