Gasum and Save the Children Finland support children and families amid the climate crisis
The climate crisis is one of the greatest threats to children’s survival, learning, and protection. Extreme weather events, air pollution, food shortages, and water scarcity endanger the lives of hundreds of millions of children and the livelihoods of their families. Climate change increases the risks faced by children, as they are already the most vulnerable in times of crisis. As families’ livelihoods deteriorate, children are more likely to drop out of school and enter the workforce prematurely. As poverty deepens, girls become more susceptible to child marriage and violence.
Save the Children Finland operates in, among other places, East Africa and Asia, in areas most affected by extreme weather events and climate change. The organization helps children and families cope with the challenges caused by the climate crisis by providing, for example, cash assistance and supporting communities in preparing for the consequences of the climate crisis. Save the Children Finland offers education to children and families to strengthen communities’ ability to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
