Oulu biogas plant

The Oulu biogas plant processes sewage sludge, food industry side streams as well as separately collected and packaged biowaste, for which the plant has its own pre-processing line.

Biogas from the plant is sold to the local gas network of the waste management company operating in the area. The sanitized digestate generated at the plant as well as the solid digestate obtained from the centrifuges is used as a fertilizer product in agriculture.

The Oulu plant will be expanded during 2017 into a plant with an annual processing capacity of 60,000 tonnes. In addition, a gas upgrading and filling station has been opened in the area by the municipal waste management company Kiertokaari.
